PermNet
Current Release
PermNet Ver.0.94.
- What's this: A set of permutation test tools for social network analysis.
- Abilities: It currently provides symmetry test and transitivity test for real-valued data, and triad census test for binary data.
Other features: It can deal with missing values. I believe it's indispensable. The result is provided on Notepad-like field, so you can edit the result very easily. I feel this program is sufficiently fast. The same work that Mathematica takes several hours can be done in a minute. This is probably due to the C++ combined with STL. Permutation may take some time, but you don't need to wonder how long the calculation takes, because it has a counter that tells you how many permutations are done so far. It's a $Free program. - To learn more about permutation tests for symmetry and transitivity in real-valued data, go to my Research page. The reference is available there.

Bug Fixes and Updates Since Version 0.80
Current version : 0.94 (Production of Japanese version is terminated.) There was only English version until Version 0.80.
English/Universal version
0.80/E -> 0.81/E: The bugs for calculating mutual, asymmetric, and null ties were fixed. Thanks Eric! (06/26/98)
0.81/E -> 0.87/E: The code was rewritten for Borland C++ Builder version 3/Japanese and compiled by Borland C++ Builder version 3/Japanese. (07/02/98)
0.87/E -> 0.88/E: You do not need BORLNDMM.DLL and CP3240MT.DLL in your windows\system or winnt\system32 directory any more. You may want to delete them, although it will not hurm your system. (10/16/98) 0.88/E ->
0.90: Binary data can contain missing values. (Unpublished)
0.90 -> 0.92: "Permute Each Row Fixing Diagonals" is available in transitivity test. I found that permuting each row is POSSIBLE even in the transitivity test. I am wondering why I believed it impossible. File management is improved. (Unpublished)
0.92 -> 0.94: "Permutation tests within categories" are introduced. Help file is revised. (11/20/98)Japanese version
0.80/E -> 0.85/J: The code was rewritten for Borland C++ Builder version 3/Japanese and compiled by Borland C++ Builder version 3/Japanese.
0.85/J -> 0.87/J: The bugs for calculating mutual, asymmetric, and null ties were fixed. Thanks Eric! (06/26/98)
0.87/J -> 0.88/J: You do not need BORLNDMM.DLL and CP3240MT.DLL in your windows\system or winnt\system32 directory any more. You may want to delete them, although it will not hurm your system. (10/16/98)
Because of time consuming job, I decided to terminate Japanese version. (11/20/98)
